Runners in the event’s 5K exit the starting gate Saturday morning in Homewood

HOMEWOOD, Ala. – Participants in the Mission’s third annual Rescue Run 10K, 5K, and 1 Mile Fun Run event, presented by Team Logic IT, were greeted with beautiful sunshine and a crisp fall breeze Saturday morning at The Curve in Homewood. More than 250 enthusiastic runners weaved their way through the community in an effort supporting men, women, and children in the nonprofit’s three facilities.

“Every year we are blessed and humbled by the generosity of people in our city,” said Mission marketing and communications coordinator Ryan Bartels. “We are only able to care for individuals in our programs because of the financial support and ongoing prayers of others. The Rescue Run is an opportunity for people to help those in need while doing something fun. Individuals from all over the state, and even into Georgia, who’ve never even heard of the Mission before were able to participate in something they love while simultaneously helping hundreds of individuals struggling with homelessness and addiction. It’s just a fantastic win-win.”

The Mission would like to thank all the participants and countless volunteers for making this year’s Rescue Run the best yet!
