“I was dropped off by a sheriff…

When I first came to the Jimmie Hale Mission, I was dropped off by a sheriff.  At 34 years old I had nothing but the clothes on my back. I had burned every bridge I had — bridges to family, friends and jobs. Worst of all, I had filled my precious daughter’s life with broken promises and disappointment.

Molly, my little girl, had never known me to be a sober father. Yet she still loved me unconditionally throughout her ten years of life.

At my lowest point, I tried to end my life … but then the Jimmie Hale Mission took me in.

My daughter had never  known me to be a sober father — until now

They took me in, fed me, clothed me and gave me a place to rest. They took me out of the world so Jesus could take the world out of me.

After a few weeks of being in the program, I was able to call home to Molly. She kept asking, ‘Daddy, when will I see you again? Do you think I will get to see you this year?’ I realized my Father in heaven was probably asking a similar question — Matthew, when will I get to see you again?

That night, for the first time in my life, I fully surrendered to Jesus. I realized I had no hope of changing without Him.

Now, I have another Father’s Day to celebrate with Molly. Thank you!”
