John (Jack) Stewart, former, long-time board member of the Jimmie Hale Mission and the namesake of our three Stewart Learning Centers, recently passed away at age 92.
Jack, as he preferred to be called, served on the Mission’s board for more than
40 years. It was in recognition of this dedication and service that the learning centers for education remediation and job readiness, which are located on-campus at each of the three residential shelter facilities, were named in his honor.
His obituary continually mentions how important his faith was to him and mentions how he will best be remembered for his faith in God and strength of character.
“We remember Jack as a kind, gentle, and wise man! He had love and compassion for those he came in contact with,” said Tony Cooper about Jack’s passing.
His legacy will live on in the lives that are changed through the Stewart Learning Centers.
