Board Member Perryn Carroll volunteers and holds mock interviews for clients at Jessie’s Place
For the past month, volunteers at Jessie’s Place have been assisting clients and preparing them for real job interviews.
“Mock interviews were put into place as a way to help the ladies in our program feel more confident … they reveal an area of growth and improvement,” Glenda Murphy, Learning Center Assistant, stated.
Volunteers from local businesses in the Birmingham area and even board members of the Jimmie Hale Mission come a couple times per month and sit down with the Jessie’s Place clients who are currently seeking employment. The mock interviews help prepare them for jobs in a variety of fields including corporate, customer service, food service and office related occupations.
Resume’s are critiqued and the interviews are conducted in various environments in order to replicate the various job interviews that Jessie’s Place clients will go on and so the ladies are exposed to different interview experiences and learn of different areas that they can improve upon.
Before the mock and real interviews, clients are able to pick out their interview attire from donations that YOU have provided. If you would like to assist with this please donate your gently-used professional attire to any one of our Mission Possible Bargain Centers or give Jessie’s Place a call at (205) 323-0170.
