LifeWay Christian Store employees delivering bibles to a Discovery Clubs class
For six years Lifeway Christian book store in Hoover has been partnering with Discovery Clubs of the Jimmie Hale Mission to provide Bibles for the 5th grade graduates at participating Discovery Clubs schools in the Birmingham area.
The drive, which started in February of this year, allows shoppers of the Christian book store to elect to donate $5 to Discovery Clubs which helps cover the costs of the Bibles. The Bibles are then taken to each of the participating schools with a 5th grade program and given as graduation gifts in hopes of preparing the school-aged children for their transition into middle school and beyond.
In addition to the Bibles, each fifth grader also receives a set of mini flashcards which go along with the curriculum, starting in Genesis and going through to Revelation to tell the entire Biblical story.
What are Discovery Clubs? – Discovery Clubs of the Jimmie Hale Mission are after-school Bible clubs that meet in public elementary schools once a week for an hour in which volunteers or mentors teach the Gospel while also building foundations for life and, developing character and changing our communities.
