Welding student Barry during class
Lawson State Community College teamed up with the Jimmie Hale Mission to provide a new non-credit welding training program for individuals currently residing within our shelter.
What Did They Learn?
The first class began January 5th and is designed to provide a valuable welding skill set to participants within a five-week period in hopes that they will be eligible for entry level positions in the industry.
Individuals attend classes three days a week and upon graduating the class are exposed to opportunities to become welders in various manufacturing companies.
How’s It Going?
To date we have had six program clients participate in the welding program and have a positive outlook to have even more.
This partnership has been truly life changing for many of of our guys that are in the Jimmie Hale Mission program.
