“Homelessness hurts when I see it, it really touches me. It’s
heartbreaking.” Scott began volunteering by serving meals every week at Jimmie Hale
Mission. Scott explains his motivation for volunteering in this way: “I didn’t want
[clients] to be alone. I listen and pay attention, this is something that I can do to ease
pain, I sit and communicate.”

“When I stepped into church, God gave me back my desire to recover. I always thank God for brining me back.”

Angela is a single mom of two boys. Recently, she experience great loss in a short amount of time. Her mother, father, and brother all passed away within months of each other. Angela had no time to grieve and the weight of suffering was so heavy. In addition to these tragedies, she also lost her job and was evicted from her home. Angela “fell iff balance,” she needed to mentally “reboot and restart.” All of this led to her breaking point and brought her to Jessie’sPlace.

Matthew 7:7-8 (NIV) tells us: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek
and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For
everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the
one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Joey knows that signs
of God are all around us. He is living proof that no matter the time
or place, God will let you know what He desires for your life.
