The women and children of Jessie’s Place have one more reason to feel at home while working toward a better life!SAM_1262

Ms. Jacqueline Walker, an intern from the culinary program at Virginia College, has chosen to volunteer her time and talent to provide home-cooked meals a few nights out of the week, for the next nine weeks.

Typically, Jessie’s Place depends on food brought in from volunteers that participate in the Nourish the Needy program where volunteers bring enough food and drinks for about 30 women and children in the shelter.

While Jessie’s Place is grateful for volunteers that faithfully provide meals to the women and children in the shelter, nothing beats a home-cooked meal from a soon-to-be professional chef!

When asked why she chose Jessie’s Place to do her externship, Ms. Jacqueline replied, “I just wanted to volunteer.”  Upon graduation, Ms Jacqueline would simply like to “enjoy life.”

We are so grateful that Ms. Jacqueline chose Jessie’s Place to intern and look forward to the wonderful meals that will be served during her externship.
