Birmingham-area shoppers set a new record in giving!
Fifteen was the magic number during the 2015, 15th annual Scan-A-Meal for Missions program conducted by Western Supermarkets. During the 2015 holiday season, shoppers could elect to add $1.95 to their total to go towards a meal to help feed the men, women and children in our ministries. This year a record setting $15,795 was donated through customers that participated.
“This donation represents more than $15,000 that customers in Western Supermarkets have donated to us. That donation translates into 8,100 meals!” said Executive Director Tony Cooper. On February 8th, President of Western Supermarkets, Darwin Metcalf presented Tony Cooper with the check.
During the last year alone, the Jimmie Hale Mission provided more than 218,000 meals to men, women and children in need and anticipate providing around 50,000 meals during the upcoming spring and Easter season.
Donations are needed year-round and providing a meal costs only $1.95. Click here to donate online or give us a call at 205-323-5878 to donate by phone.
