  • A Thankful Heart

    Growing up, Joe never knew the joy of Thanksgiving. There were no family gatherings, no turkey or pumpkin pie, no traditions of gratitude around the table. To him, Thanksgiving was just another day, except his mother didn’t have to go to work. “Thanksgiving Dinner” for him was usually just a grilled cheese sandwich in front of the TV. A home filled with food, laughter, and gratitude was something completely foreign to Joe; it was something he never dreamed was real.

  • Educating for Change

    Every day, our homeless and hurting clients face a multitude of challenges that require a comprehensive approach to healing. Many have attended the “school of hard knocks” for a long time. That’s why our programming, including education, uplifts and transforms the whole person: body, mind and spirit. At the Jimmie Hale Mission, we care for our brothers and sisters in Christ so that they may re-enter society with a fresh start and begin successful, productive lives.

    Hank is marking his independence from addiction by celebrating five years of sobriety in 2024… “Active recovery here teaches you about decision making at length. I learned that if you can begin thinking change,” he says. “you learn to make value-based decisions rather than emotional ones.” He knows having God in his life has made all the difference.
