Olivia is your typical mom. She works hard and wants what’s best for her two kids, Shamiya and Jay. But things turned upside down when Olivia lost her job. 
Like many Americans*, Olivia didn’t have anything to fall back on and soon lost her home. “We were so
nervous about going to a shelter,” Olivia shared, “but I knew we needed help.” Olivia wanted to make the most of this situation and make sure they were never this vulnerable again.
“I wanted to find a program that would help me better myself, for my family.” Since coming to Jessie’s Place, Olivia has taken advantage of all the services available to her; services that your support makes possible. “Jessie’s Place helped me to receive benefits to help me reach my goals like childcare, transportation and more,” Olivia said.
“I’m so grateful to have had Jessie’s Place in our lives,” Olivia shared. “I’m working as a dental assistant and plan to work toward becoming a dental hygienist.” She’s working toward being recertified in CPR and applying to a program where she can shadow a dental hygienist. Your support has not only helped Olivia, it’s helped her two kids as well. “Shamiya says she wants to be a dentist when she grows up,” Olivia said with a smile.
